The short version

A first transaction should be boring. Small amount, verified route, unhurried review, and a record you can inspect.

01

Prepare the route before opening Send

Confirm the receiving service supports the exact asset on the exact network you intend to use. Copy the address from the destination, not from transaction history or a chat. Address-poisoning attacks rely on people selecting a look-alike address from recent activity.

Decide on a small test amount and check any minimum deposit requirement. A test that falls below the receiver's credited minimum may succeed on-chain but fail to appear in the account balance.

02

Read the final screen aloud

Check the network, asset, amount, destination, and total fee. Compare several characters at both the beginning and end of the address. For higher stakes, verify the full address through a second trusted channel or device.

  • Right asset.
  • Right network on both sides.
  • Right destination, checked beyond the first few characters.
  • Fee and remaining native balance understood.
  • No unexpected approval or contract interaction.
03

Use the transaction hash as your receipt

After broadcasting, the wallet should provide a transaction hash. Open it in an explorer that matches the network. Pending means the network has seen the transaction but has not finalized it. Success means the network executed it; it does not guarantee a custodial service has credited it yet.

Save the hash until the destination reflects the deposit. If something looks wrong, do not send the transaction again until you understand the first result.
